November 1, 2018

As we usher in the month of November, I can't help but notice all of the togetherness around me. I've been seeing tons of family pictures, pumpkin patch (and apple orchard) outings, and countless recipes being shared that will be enjoyed during the Thanksgiving holiday season.

Our family doesn't particularly celebrate Thanksgiving based on it's true origin. Rather, we use this observance as an opportunity to spend time with fam...

Twenty-one months...

One year and nine months...

Almost two years...

That's how long it took me to realize how quickly things can change.

Around this time two years ago, I learned about an impending change that would completely disrupt life as I knew it. I viewed it as a disruption because as far as I was concerned, it destroyed every plan I had...every plan we had. I spent so much time throwing myself the most regal of pity...

Need I say more?

I've thought long and hard about how to tackle this topic and every time I thought about how to write it, I couldn't even begin because it literally brought me to tears. I won't speak for all Black women when I say this because I am only responsible for me. With that being s...

Since I can’t seem to escape this p...

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, I've been sitting back and thinking over my life. There has been good, bad, ugly, and indifferent. Not much different to anyone else's life, right? There's one...

It wasn't until I sat down to write this today that I realized the last time I blogged was exactly one month ago -- sorry!

At this point I would typically say something to the effect of "life got in the way". My latest self-improvement tasks includes working very hard to change the way I view things. Therefore, life didn't "get in the way"...I was just taking the time to enjoy life so I can keep giving you all what you subbed t...

I've never been one to hold my tongue...ever.

However, my diarrhea mouth seems to keep getting me in trouble. The famous saying by President Teddy Roosevelt, "Speak softly and carry a big stick" is one that has held much weight in our society.

I prefer to speak loudly and carry a .22.

Allow me to explain...

I've gone through life being told that women are emotional beings -- which is true. However, that does not mean our feelings...
