When was the last time you went on a date with your significant other? If it has been a while, don’t feel too badly — it happens to the best of us!
Before last weekend, the last time my husband and I went on a date was somewhere around the beginning of January. Yes, nearly a month ago.
If this is your first time visiting the blog — welcome! To bring you up to speed on me quickly. I’m a wife, mom of three, and I work full time — all outside of the blog. As you can imagine, I don’t have much free time and between everyone’s schedules, neither does my husband. There are so many times that I’d love for us to go on dates but I’m always so tired!
For our last date of January, we decided to KISS — Keep It Simple Sweetie (as our little one would say, “stupid” is a bad word!).
We did date night at home with the Night In Boxes!
Night In Boxes are a monthly subscription that provide you with an opportunity to enjoy spending time with your loved one in the comforts of your own home. There are a variety of boxes for you to chose from, including - Date Night In, Kids Night In, and Faith Night In.
January's Date Night In Box theme was foundation of love. Therefore, all of the hands-on activities were centered around that important concept. Our guidebook included information on everything we needed to enjoy the evening. We started off with some amazing dinner recipes and table talk prompts. The icing on the cake was the playlist we obtained directly from the Night In Boxes website.
After dinner, we jumped right into the first official activity, where we used craft sticks to write out what makes our relationship unique -- which is a lot. Once we determined what those characteristics were, we assembled the sticks in a way that provided a visual depiction of everything that makes us us.
The remaining activities followed along the same theme of "foundation". Therefore, I won't highlight all of them for you. Although the activities were very simple, they were unique enough to get our gears turning. When you're married or in a long-term relationship, it is easy to "forget" to look beyond the ordinary. What I mean by that is as long as everything is going well, you don't really stop to think about what is truly making it go well.
Date Night In Boxes give you that opportunity to enjoy yourself while still having the flexibility to stop and smell the roses. Don't get me wrong - we love going out on dates. However, the time we share doesn't compare to the way we can enjoy each other's company freely at home.
